Hydrostatic pressure calculator

Calculate pressure at the bottom from liquid density and height.

How to use

Calculation inputs

Calculation result

Enter the values; results update automatically.

The result is pressure added by the liquid column: gauge pressure in an open tank, not absolute pressure. Surface gas pressure is not added. Assumes a stationary liquid of constant density.

How to use

Enter liquid density in kg/m³ and vertical depth below the free surface in metres. Results are shown in Pa and bar.

Example calculation

A density of 1000 kg/m³ and a depth of 2 m give a pressure difference of 19613.3 Pa, approximately 0.19613 bar.

Calculation method

Δp = ρgh; g = 9.80665 m/s²; p[bar] = p[Pa] / 100000 (ρ: kg/m³; h: m)

Calculation limits

The result is pressure added by the liquid column: gauge pressure in an open tank, not absolute pressure. Surface gas pressure is not added. Assumes a stationary liquid of constant density.
