Stainless Steel Weight Calculator

Estimate the weight of sheet, pipe, rectangular hollow section, flat bar, round bar, angle, disc and ring from their dimensions.

How to use

Material and dimensions

Approximate density at room temperature. You can replace it with a value specific to your material.

Calculation result

Enter the dimensions; results update automatically.

The calculation uses ideal geometry and does not account for corner radii, manufacturing tolerances or weld seams. Use the supplier’s actual weight per piece for final purchasing calculations.

How to use

Enter all dimensions in millimetres. Results show the approximate weight in kilograms.

  1. Select the material shape and stainless steel grade. Adjust the density if needed.
  2. Enter the dimensions shown in the drawing and the quantity. Use wall thickness for pipe and hollow sections.
  3. Results update automatically as you change values. Review the weight per piece and the total weight in the results.

Example calculation

A 1000 × 2000 × 2 mm sheet of 304 stainless steel weighs approximately 31.60 kg at a density of 7900 kg/m³.

Calculation method

Weight = volume × density. Dimensions are converted from millimetres to metres, and the geometric material volume is multiplied by density. Total weight = weight per piece × quantity.

SheetV = W × L × t
PipeV = π × t × (D − t) × L
Rectangular hollow sectionV = 2 × t × (W + H − 2t) × L
Flat barV = W × L × t
Round barV = π × D² × L / 4
AngleV = t × (W + H − t) × L
DiscV = π × D² × t / 4
RingV = π × (D² − d²) × t / 4
