How to use
For taper, enter the large and small diameters and axial length in mm. For chamfer, enter radial depth in mm and the angle to the axis between 0° and 90°. Half-angle and included angle are shown separately.
Example calculation
Diameters of 40 and 20 mm over 100 mm give a half-angle of about 5.711°, included angle 11.421° and taper ratio 0.2. A 2 mm radial depth at 45° gives 2 mm axial width and a 2.828 mm face.
Calculation method
α = atan((D − d) / (2L)); β = 2α; k = (D − d) / L; w = h / tan θ; s = h / sin θ
Calculation limits
Uses ideal straight-sided geometry. The taper ratio is (D − d) / L, not 1:n notation. Chamfer depth is radial, not the diameter difference. Tool radius and tolerances are excluded.
