Enter the values; results update automatically.

Closed ideal tank with two equal flat, exact 2:1 ellipsoidal (D/4) or hemispherical (D/2) heads. Cone-bottom tanks have a flat top. Excludes torispherical, unequal or tilted tanks, nozzles and internals.

How to use

Choose the shape and enter inside dimensions in mm. L is the straight body only, excluding heads and cone; on vertical tanks L is its straight height. Measure the level from the lowest inside point.

Example calculation

Horizontal D = 1000, L = 2000, flat ends and h = 500 mm: 785.40 L, 50%.

Calculation method

V_h,cyl = L[r² acos((r−h)/r) − (r−h)√(2rh−h²)] V_h,₂ = πa h²(1−h/(3r)) V_cone(h ≤ C) = πr²h³/(3C²) p[%] = 100 × V(h) / V_total r, L, h, a, C: m; V: m³; 1 m³ = 1000 L

Calculation limits

Closed ideal tank with two equal flat, exact 2:1 ellipsoidal (D/4) or hemispherical (D/2) heads. Cone-bottom tanks have a flat top. Excludes torispherical, unequal or tilted tanks, nozzles and internals.
